About Me

As I Reflect on My Life

My name is Cara Ramage and I realized that from a very young age I was aware of death, I thought about it, worried about, contemplated it and feared it. Through my life I have faced alot of death: family members who died of illness, friends who died in accidents, overdoses, illness and by suicide. I was constantly drawn to death in different ways and now I know why.

It was a life changing experience attending and graduating from the Sacred Passage Doula program through the Conscious Dying Institute. Addressing my own fears and trauma around my experiences with death truly prepared me to hold space for people who are dying or who want to address their fears around death.

My purpose in this life is to support people while they accept death during their life or at the end of their life.  I want to walk with you on this journey and hold space for anything you are open to accepting and healing. Accepting death is the first step to living and dying well.

I look forward to speaking with you about how I can support and guide your end of life journey.

I will be by your side as you embrace the end of your life.

About Cara

I am an End of Life Doula and Death Educator who is passionate about providing support to those who are interested in exploring the end of their lives and those who are currently facing the end of their lives. I create spaces where there are no taboos related to death or fear of death and I truly want people to live their lives so they can openly embrace their death when that time comes. I believe there is a beautiful gift in accepting that we are dying and how we choose to embrace that will impact the way our lives look and feel everyday.

Mission & Vision

I support people from a place of love and compassion on this sometimes complicated journey of accepting their mortality and planning their end of life.  I provide an opportunity for you to give yourself permission to face your fear of death and communicate your end of life wishes to your loved ones.  This allows a sense of freedom and completion and the ability to live and die the way you want to.

How can an EOL Doula help during Covid-19?

I am able to work virtually in any situation and am staying open to all suggestions and requests as we deal with changing restrictions on meeting face to face.  My friend is a birth doula and she has assisted women in labour via Zoom on an  Ipad on the shelf in the birthing room at the hospital.  Chaotic times call for creative solutions.

How can I prepare for what I consider a good death?

Taking time to think, discuss and plan ahead can help you with this. You have a choice as to how the end of your life will look and feel, yes there are many unknowns but if your loved ones understand your wishes they can ensure that you have the death that you desire.

When should I contact an End of Life Doula?

End of Life Doulas can be contacted at any time before or during the end of life process. The sooner the doula can enter the process, the more time can be spent getting to know the individual and family, creating quality care plans, prioritizing end of life needs and creating sacred space and meaning for the individual and family.
